Now This Is What I Call a Pen!
After purchasing a Cross Century II black lacquer rollerball as well as a Cross Townsend black lacquer rollerball, I was very impressed with the quality and "hand feel" of these two pens. I was also very pleased with the performance of Cross' rollerball which is extremely smooth and lays down a perfect amount of ink. I prefer the heavier weight and wider girth of the Townsend over the slimmer feel of the Century II, so when I read Cross' description of the Peerless as "the finest pen they had ever made," I had to buy one. The Peerless Obsidian Black Selectip Rolling Ball pen is a serious high-quality pen whose massive size makes writing a joy. This pen easily lives up to the manufacturer's claim, and always draws favorable comments whenever I use it in public.
When I received this pen from Penboutique, I immediately noticed a design change on the clip, which instead of portraying the Cross logo in silver within a black rectangular box, the clip on my pen simply displayed the Cross logo without the black box engraved on the silver clip. I contacted Penboutique to investigate why my pen's clip was different from the Peerless clip shown on their web site as well as the Cross site, and a senior representative named Joe offered to help. He told me he would contact Cross to learn why the pen was shipped with a "plain" clip, and within two days he called me to explain that Cross was in the process of changing out the "black box" logo on the clip with the plain silver logo.
I appreciated the time and effort Joe took to investigate my question, and was glad that I had purchased my pen from Penboutique. In fact, I was so impressed with Penboutique's customer service that when Joe advised me the only Peerless Obsidian Black Lacquer pen with the "black box" Cross logo was the ballpoint model, I subsequently purchased it.
Now that I have two versions of the Peerless I can unequivocally vouch that these pens truly are "peerless"... as is Penboutique's customer service. Was this review helpful? Yes No 0 of 0 users found this review helpful. Tweet
5 / 5 Frank Cross Peerless I've owned several Mont Blanc pens, but this Cross Peerless is every bit as impressive. It has a great fill and looks great! Was this review helpful? Yes No 0 of 0 users found this review helpful. Tweet
