In 1934, Yard-O-Led pencil and pen company was founded by a Mr. Brenner, when he took out a patent on a pencil mechanism which gave each pencil the ability to hold 12 three-inch pieces of lead at a time. Hence the name Yard-O-Led—known fondly to fanciers as YOL – was born. Today, Yard-O-Lead offers a range of fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, in addition to its unique propelling mechanical pencils. All Yard-O-Lead writing instruments feature names which honor the brand’s noble British heritage.
