Hobonichi 2026 Japanese Day-Free Book – A5 (January Start)
The Hobonichi 2026 Japanese Day-Free Book – A5 (January Start) is a versatile planner that combines monthly calendars with a spacious graph-paper notebook, giving you freedom to plan, create, and record without the constraints of dated daily pages.
Designed to fit perfectly into covers made for the Hobonichi Techo Cousin (A5), the Day-Free is lightweight and portable—half the size of the full-year Cousin—making it easier to carry while still providing plenty of room for your thoughts and plans.
The monthly calendar section is identical to the standard Cousin, featuring clear graph-paper grids for neat scheduling. The 2026 edition covers December 2025 through March 2027, giving you extended planning flexibility.
The second half of the book is a blank graph-paper notebook with 171 numbered pages of 3.7mm squares, ideal for journaling, drawing, pasting mementos, or organizing ideas. Each page also includes the Hobonichi Techo’s signature Japanese daily quotes, adding inspiration to your writing routine.
Crafted with thread-stitch binding, the book opens completely flat for a smooth writing experience. The pages are made of Tomoe River paper, known for being thin, light, and durable, while handling fountain pen ink beautifully.
Beyond the calendars and notebook, the Day-Free also includes yearly calendars, a yearly index, and unique bonus pages like Memories 2026, 12 Switches to Help You Focus, and For a Comfortable Night’s Sleep.

Please Read Before You Buy
To ensure you get the best experience with this product, we’ve prepared a list of important warnings, potential issues, and helpful tips. Please review this information carefully before placing your order.
The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
Please note that we will not replace the packaging for the products if it has rips or damage.
