On time for this year’s biggest cinematic events, The Batman: Limited Edition is available to ship to markets from beginning of April, 2022.
The arrival of this radical new design follows the 4 March 2022 release of the Warner Bros. Pictures movie, The Batman. Directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, the new movie recasts the iconic character in his own story for the first time in ten years. This reincarnation is dark, gritty and raw, with a plotline that focuses on the young Bruce Wayne’s early crimefighting career.
In sync with the movie’s ethos, our design boasts extreme, tactical styling with engineering, materials and finishing to match. It is built from 5-axis CNC-milled Grade 2 titanium, embellished with black ruthenium polished brass and stainless steel.
Brass components are made using machine-turning and lost-wax casting – with the latter technique used for the cap’s complex appendages and a Batman emblem piece set in the barrel. This same marking appears in laser engraving on the steel cap disc.
The pen’s octagonal profile is an elaborate reworking of the Extra Otto – a writing instrument we would expect billionaire Bruce Wayne to own. Key design elements echo the form and function of his new Batsuit: angled armour plating with flat, industrial finishes and integrated utility. A spring-loaded pocket clip is inspired by the superhero’s signature grapple gun, and five grappling hooks are mounted at the rear of the cap. Cap cladding modelled on Batman’s gauntlet – a key element in his new arsenal that features the Montegrappa logo.
The Batman Limited Edition is issued as editions of 330 fountain pens: piston-fill with an 8mm. polished black ruthenium 18K gold custom nib (EF, F, M, B, Stub 1.1) engraved with the silhouette of Batman’s cowl.
