Impressively decorated from top to bottom, the Wajima Bijou 2nd Edition Bespoke pens by Sailor are designed to honor the art of Wajima-nuri.

Wajima-nuri is traditionally made lacquerware in Japan, featuring deep colors produced by the Urushi-nuri lacquer coating technique often adorned in goldleaf. The process of decorating these pieces is completed through meticulous maki-e application, or hand placing of gold and other precious materials to create intricate patterns. These careful techniques take on a meaningful form here in the Sailor Wajima Bijou Edition series, named Bijou from the French word meaning jewel.

These pieces feature jewel-like elements with a mother-of-pearl studded finial, unique graduated color from repeated color-urushi coating and polishing, and 21K gold nibs with bi-color plating.


Wajima Bijou “Emerald” shines with fortune, hope, and love. These pens are complemented by golden accents and distinctive engraved cap rings that exhibit their unique serial numbers out of 300.

Sailor has made a new design for their nibs. The pens which are produced from January 2022 onwards will have the new-design nib. The difference between the old nib and the new nib:

1. New nib does not have '1911' engraved on it
2. New design of the anchor
3. New design of the "SAILOR" engraving below the anchor
4. The 'H' letter (abbreviation of 'Hard') is removed from the nib size indicator on the left side of the new nib 

Depending on the availability of our stock, you may receive the old Sailor nib design or the new Sailor nib.
