David Oscarson Les Quatre Couleurs Rollerball Pen - Translucent Azure Blue. The Les Quatre Couleurs is the seventeenth on the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition Writing Instruments, comes in four color variations and each color is limited to 88 pieces (including Fountain Pen and Rollerball Styles). Les Quatre Couleurs means the four colors and/or the four suits. History of playing cards can be traced back to China, India and Persia during the 7th century; it was introduced in Europe in 14th century. After French Revolution in the late 18th century, the four suits (spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs) became standard in most part of the world. The Spade mean nobility, the Heart represents the Church, the Diamond means merchants and the Club means peasantry with its reference to clover or the food of swine. Like other David Oscarson’s collection, Les Quatre Couleurs series goes through multiple levels of Guilloche engraving and a combination of translucent and opaque hard enamel. The entire body of each piece is first cut down to the level of the background, leaving the outer and inner lines of the four suits and decorative filigree motif in high relief. Add this gorgeous rollerball into your collection.
