David Oscarson Sir Alexander Fleming Rollerball Pen - Translucent Blue. This pen comes in translucent cobalt blue and white hard enamel. The Alexander Fleming series is dedicated to Sir Alexander Fleming, a Scottish bacteriologist known for his discovery of penicillin. A technical genius and sharp observer, he through his observation, refinement and purification made the firstly discovered as mold, today’s Penicillin. His discovery changed the medical world, particularly by its widespread use in the US and British armed service hospitals in World War II. The writing instruments are gorgeously adorned with a rendition of his signature around the pen barrel that represents countless prescriptions that have been written not only by Fleming but also by millions of doctors all over the world. The pen background is imprinted in a vertical motif interrupted by delicate stems branches and spores representing penicillium as it appears under a microscope slide or under the glass. The cap features a reconstruction of Alexander Fleming’s original petri dish that helped for discovery of penicillin. This twenty third series of David Oscarson shows the expertise of Guilloche engraving and the artistic mastery of hard enamel. This limited edition is produced in three primary colors variations, each color limited to 73 pieces including fountain pens and rollerball pens.
