I used to collect much more expensive fountain pens when I had a position that (1) required signing multiple documents daily and (2) paid a salary that allowed me to afford such pens. I recently ordered this Lamy pen in hopes that it would be an affordable way to return to using a fountain pen, as I can no longer justify the expense of a Waterman or Mont Blanc. The fine-point nib does not feel scratchy at all whether I'm printing or writing in longhand, and the ink flows smoothly and evenly. The pen is eye-catching and I've received quite a few questions and compliments. I will mostly likely order another, probably a medium point, soon.
Thank you for your review. Lamy is great. Something else to consider is Pilot Metropolitan, TWSBI Eco or Diamond, Faber-castell Loom fountain pens. Taccia fountain pens are amazing fountain pens for the price.
I own a Vista, Al Star and a Safari all with fine nibs. I received the Lamy Lx in Ru expecting to get the same writing experience only to find that the fine nib on it was writing very dry and it had a scratchy feel. I had cleaned the pen thoroughly and used the included lamy blue ink cartridge. I ran the nib under 25x magnification only to find that the tines were not aligned and the tips were tightly touching... all this causing the poor ink flow and scratch. Such a disappointment in the quality control on the nib for this price point. Very well made and cool looking pen with better appointments than the former pens... such a shame.
