A nice shady brown

As a newbie to this hobby don't take my remarks as authoritative ... but. I currently have a TWSBI 580 AL medium nib pen inked with this. I believe the color to be true to the Saddle Brown moniker: darker rich tones on Tomoe River paper and my "Luny" Field Notes book, and a bit lighter and more reddish toned on less fountain pen friendly paper such as Staples sugar cane and typical office copy paper. A more tan-brown shift was noted on Rhodia dot paper. I find this ink shades crazy well on ALL the papers and even produced some subtle but awesome sheen on the cream Tomoe River paper. Show through/ghosting is common to the pedestrian paper with the exception being the Field Notes book. Also, very slight feathering existed on the bottom rung copy paper, but not enough to get excited about (I needed magnification). Diamine's Saddle Brown ink is well behaved in my TWSBI being slightly wet with great flow, smoothness and a fast dry time. I think this can be a very versatile ink. For my first true "brown" colored ink, I rather like it. But, then again, I might just be biased as I have saddle brown saddles, boots and gun leather. Enjoy!
